WHAT- “A Taste of Home” – Wines of Canada

WHERE- at Liz’s home in Collingwood (address will be provided at a later date).  Please note that both a dog and cat are in residence.

    WHEN– Thursday June 19, 2025, 4 p.m.

WHY– “Wine Simplified” on Jan. 9 and “A Taste of Home” on May 22 with Erin Rooney were both great experiences.  Erin is an accredited wine professional and past wine executive with a tremendous passion for wine.  This event is designed to build your confidence with wine and to equip you with the knowledge to confidently open, taste, pour and enjoy wine in a business or casual setting.  Each guest will receive a selection of 4 wines that we will taste together to learn about some of the key varietals.  You will also be tasting some different foods with your wines to understand more about the cause and effect certain foods can have on wine and you will receive some wine/food paring tips as well as a list of “Erin’s Picks” that suggest wines at different price points.  You will enjoy Erin’s friendly and approachable style and there will be many opportunities for questions along the way.  This event will be approximately 1.5 – 2 hours in duration.

A Wait List will be available.

COST- $50 inclusive of tax, non-refundable, wait list available, limited to 10 participants, cut off for registration is June 10, 2025

WHAT - Educational Farm Tour at Good Family Farms - Healthy soil, food and people.  Regeneratively raised beef, pork and chicken in located in the heart of Grey County.

WHY - Learn why the health of your body and the planet depend on this sustainable way of farming and food production.

This is an organic/regenerative local farm committed to providing healthy food using sustainable practices.  From their website - “We are a Certified Organic Farm where we raise livestock, grains, and vegetables.  Our grains and cover crops support our livestock and our livestock supports our crops.  Diversifying what we grow allows our farm to work as a whole there we can manage pests without the use of harsh herbicides or insecticides.  Having livestock such as pigs and chickens gives us a reason to grow grains such as peas, oats and barley as a polyculture (grown together) which allows for a longer cropping rotation.  Also, because our beef is grass fed, we rotate our crop fields back into pasture for 2-3 years allowing the cattle to graze which drastically increases soil health.  Allowing pasture to be part of the cropping rotation is highly beneficial to the nutrition of the soil, which is our sole goal; healthy soil”.  https://goodfamilyfarms.ca/

LOGISTICS - We have reserved 2 farm vehicles (more like a golf cart than a wagon and easy to access) each with a capacity of 6 people (maximum 12 registrants). NOTE:  We need 5 - 6 people for the first farm vehicle, and an additional 5 - 6 people for the second vehicle.

The tour will commence at 10:30 a.m. and last approximately 1 hour, ending at the Farm Store for some shopping (10% discount).  A wait list will be available. Please read the Terms and Conditions before booking your tour (click here)

Please dress according to the weather (farm tours run regardless of the weather) and remember that the farm is not dog friendly (please keep your furry pets at home).

Please meet your tour guide outside the Farm Store 15 minutes before your tour begins.  If you are late, your tour will be cut short.  Google maps suggests that this is a 36 minute drive however we recommend that you leave Collingwood by 9:30 at the latest in order to be on time.  Should you need a ride or be willing to drive, please advise Peg so that car pooling may be arranged.
